Nicole Deggins, CNM, MSN, MPH, founder and CEO of Sista Midwife Productions, will present a live discussion for the UT Austin community on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. CT in PHR 3.106 regarding imagining a world without health disparities. The discussion is presented by The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, School of Nursing and Dell Medical School.
Objectives:
- Define implicit bias, cultural humility, healthy equity and disparities
- Describe ways implicit bias impacts the care and treatment of patients
- Describe what our world could look like without health disparities
- Discuss new ways to integrate more midwives into the current healthcare system, particularly for the benefit of Black families
