Juergen Siepmann received his Ph.D. from Freie Universitaet Berlin. Since 2004, he has been a Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Lille, France. Dr. Siepmann’s research focuses on controlled drug delivery systems, in particular on the eluvidation of the underlying mass transport phenomena, mathematical modeling and the optimization of the devices. He has published his work in >200 articles in international scientific journals, >350 poster and >150 oral presentations at national and international scientific meetings. He has edited 3 books, theme editor of 12 special issues, holds 9 patents, and authored 17 book chapters. In 2010, Dr. Siepmann created the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) research group for “Controlled Drug Delivery Systems and Biomaterials,” which currently employs ~50 staff members (9 professors, 6 lecturers, 5 technical/administrative staff, 20 post-docs & Ph.D. students and 10 master students). Dr. Siepmann supervised >40 Ph.D. students/post-docs to date. In 2015, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the “Journal of Drug Delivery Sciences and Technology.” Since 2016 he has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the “International Journal of Pharmaceutics.” He is the Editor-in-Chief of the gold open access companion journal “International Journal of Pharmaceutics: X,” and is the president of the International Society of Drug Delivery Sciences and Technology (APGI).
