UT Pharmacy Students Excel at AMCP

Two students in the UT College of Pharmacy took top prizes at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Foundation’s eLearning Days. The web-based poster hall took place April 20-24, 2020 and showcased 125 posters that were to be presented at the AMCP 2020 Annual Meeting, originally scheduled to take place in Houston, Texas.

Student pharmacist Waverly Yang.

Third-year student pharmacist Waverly Yang received the AMCP Foundation Best Poster Award in the Student Pharmacist category for her project, “The association of prescription opioid utilization and expenditures with metropolitan and nonmetropolitan status a retrospective analysis using Texas Medicaid pharmacy claims data.” Yang is an honors student of Dr. Ken Lawson in the Division of Health Outcomes. Graduate student Rashedat (Kemi) Ibrahim created the heatmap for the poster.

Graduate student Shiyu (Serene) Zhang.

Shiyu (Serene) Zhang earned the top prize for AMCP’s Best Poster Award in the Graduate Student category for her work, “O2: Progesterone (17-alpha hydroxyprogesterone caproate) utilization and adherence in women with a high-risk pregnancy: a study of two databases.” Zhang is a graduate student in the Division of Health Outcomes. Fellow division graduate student Som Ghosh provided mentorship and guidance.
