Jiebing Wen, Ph.D.

Research Assistant Professor of Health Outcomes

Dr. Jiebing Wen is a health economist and health services researcher by training. She received her Ph.D. in public policy and administration with a focus on health policy and health economics from Martin School, University of Kentucky. She was a postdoctoral fellow in health policy and insurance research in the Department of Population Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute. After the postdoc training, she served as an Assistant Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina. Prior to joining The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Wen was a Research Associate in the Division of Health Policy and Economics, Department of Population Health Sciences at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCM).

Her work focuses on applying quasi-experimental econometrics techniques to claims data analysis to answer research questions centering around the intended and unintended impact of health policies. She currently studies Medicare, Medicaid, and telehealth policies, and quality of care for Medicare beneficiaries. Some of her going projects include the impact of acquisitions of healthcare facilities by Private Equity Firms and Publicly Traded Companies, as well as Real Estate Investment Trust investing in healthcare facilities on quality of care for Medicare beneficiaries.
