Product Quality Research to Enhance Therapeutic Outcomes

Prior to joining Texas A&M as Vice Dean in 2015, Dr. Khan served as the Director of Product Quality Research and a Senior Biomedical Research Scientist (SBRS) at CDER in US Food and Drug Administration for over eleven years. At FDA, he led the research and review teams to promote manufacturing science, novel procedures and policies for first-approvals of complex generics, post-marketing corrections of numerous products, and served as a founding member of the FDA Emerging Technology Team. He also served as the principal advisor to the CDER Center Director for chemistry and bioequivalence issues. Dr. Khan received his Ph.D. degree in industrial pharmacy from the St. Johns University in NY. He has published over 360 peer-reviewed manuscripts in pharmaceutical formulations and manufacturing sciences, and delivered over 300 presentations world-wide. He has edited or co-edited five books including Quality by Design for Biopharmaceutical Products Development and the text Pharmaceutical and Clinical Calculations. Dr. Khan’s research, currently supported by the NIH and FDA, spans drug delivery, formulations, and bioequivalence issues, and he has received over 20 million dollars in funding as a principal investigator.
