The College of Pharmacy is proud to announce that Jamie C. Barner, Ph.D., FAACP, FAPhA, is the recipient of this year's Excellence in Graduate Teaching and Mentoring Award. This prestigious honor recognizes faculty members who have made outstanding contributions as educators and mentors to graduate students. The award includes a $5,000 cash prize and $2,500 in discretionary funding.
In addition, Dr. Barner will serve as the Southwestern Drug Corporation Centennial Endowed Fellow in Pharmacy for the 2026–27 academic year.
Dr. Barner, a health outcomes researcher, is the Division Head and Professor in the Health Outcomes Division. She earned her B.S. in Pharmacy from The University of Texas at Austin and both her M.S. and Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration from Purdue University.
Throughout her career, Dr. Barner has made a lasting impact on the graduate students she teaches and mentors.

Ph.D. student Alexcia Carr, Pharm.D., notes: "Dr. Barner excels at making rigorous content both accessible and engaging. Her public recognition of student contributions fosters a culture of respect, confidence, and motivation across our division. Dr. Barner models what it means to be a dedicated educator committed to teaching the next generation of scholars."
