Though student pharmacists couldn’t gather at Bass Concert Hall to celebrate their big day, they still got to remove the “student” from their title as the Class of 2020 graduated from the Doctor of Pharmacy program during the college’s virtual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 23, 2020.
The student commencement remarks were led by Class of 2020 President and graduating pharmacist Ryan Shaw, and the commencement speaker was Chief Executive Officer of SinfoniaRx and Executive Vice President of Tabula Rasa HealthCare Sandra Leal, Pharm.D., MP.H, CDE, FAPhA.
During the virtual event, Dean M. Lynn Crismon offered his warm remarks, and viewers were treated to photos of the graduates over the years, and their own slides and quotes marking this momentous occasion.
The Graduate School honored College of Pharmacy students graduating from master’s and doctoral degree programs during its virtual commencement ceremony.

College of Pharmacy 2019 Class Officers
President
Ryan Shaw – In fall 2017, Ryan worked as Pharmacy Intern Stagecoach Pharmacy Kyle, Texas. He served as IPE Columbia Heights Health Fair Community Liaison. Ryan was IPC Care Program Student Liaison (Sodalis Buda). Rotation Region: San Antonio. His Rotation Electives were Corporate Management (H-E-B); Hematology/Oncology (Audie L. Murphy VAH); and Psychiatric Medicine (San Antonio State Hospital).
Vice President
Michelle Tran – Michelle Tran initially started her pharmacy career working as a certified pharmacy technician at Walmart Pharmacy prior to attending the College of Pharmacy. Since then, she has worked in a variety of settings including an independent compounding pharmacy and a psychiatric facility. In her time at the college, she has led a free primary care clinic servicing homeless families in San Antonio, worked on a team to provide basic bleeding control training to the public, volunteered with Hurricane Harvey relief, and conducted research with her fellow classmates regarding naloxone availability and gender affirming therapy education. She also has held numerous leadership positions, including co-founding a social group known as Taco Club in the San Antonio region to promote bonding with classmates and to support local businesses. Michelle will be a PGY1 pharmacy resident at Methodist Dallas Medical Center following graduation and hopes to pursue her clinical interests in internal medicine and transplant.
Secretary/Treasurer
Victoria Vuong – Victoria Vuong was born and raised in Houston, Texas where she discovered interest in patient care, music, and volunteering. She is currently an advisor to the first Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) Chapter in Austin, an interprofessional organization dedicated to empowering health professionals to promote patient safety and participate in quality improvement projects/research. Formerly, she served as President and Co-Founder of the IHI Chapter at Austin, President of Christian Pharmacists Fellowship International, and Pharmacy Class Representative. In addition, she worked as an Advanced Academic Assistant and participated in various academic standing committees. Following graduation, she will be completing an industry fellowship in Global Regulatory Affairs at Sanofi Genzyme. Overall, Victoria is committed to improving patient-provider relationships and access to care for all populations through engaging with other professionals, creating innovative projects, teaching others, and working with a team to enact large-scale changes.
