Each year the College of Pharmacy produces a holiday card sending seasons greetings from Dean Lynn Crismon and featuring highlights from the college community during the year.  This year, the card production team took additional steps to assure that the card was truly a product of the entire college community.

With “Shining Stars” for a theme, the video showcases individuals and groups within the college community who received recognition during the year.  To take the message of excellence a step further, the team looked within the college for special talents.  Each year that the electronic card has been produced, a member of the college community, usually a staff member, has provided the voice for the card.  This year, Bobby Lamontagne, third year student pharmacist and president of Pharmacy Council, provided the voice talent.

Perhaps the most visible bright star of the video is the musician whose guitar rendition of “Deep in the Heart of Texas” adds the perfect Texas touch to the message.  In past years, the college has purchased royalty free background music. Viewers of the card who have been on campus within the last few years may recognize the musician as Rannon Ching, 2014 Pharm.D. graduate.  Rannon practices pharmacy at Austin’s Tarrytown Pharmacy and he graciously agreed, not only to perform the music, but to come to campus to be videotaped at locations around the college.

“I love that our annual card features not only the successes of our UT pharmacy family, but also that it provided a platform to showcase both Bobby and Rannon who represent the college’s ultimate shining stars – our students and alumni,” said Dean Crismon.

Sharla Brewer served as producer for the 2015 card.  Also working on the production were several other staff members including John Reinke, who recorded sound and video; Belinda Lehmkuhle, who recorded video and put the production together; and Vicki Matustik, who wrote the script and provided many of the photos used in the production.
