The Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPA), a new student organization in the College of Pharmacy, was recognized as the Best Graduate Organization at the 2025 Swing Out Awards, an annual event hosted by the Office of the Dean of Students to honor outstanding student organizations on campus.

Founded to provide a platform for pharmacy students interested in pediatric care, PPA has quickly established itself as a passionate and dedicated group committed to education, advocacy and professional development. Despite being a new organization, their efforts in creating opportunities for students and contributing to the field of pediatric pharmacy earned them this prestigious recognition.

"This award affirms that our passion for pediatric pharmacy is being recognized and valued," said Mady Walker, President and Pharm.D. Candidate 2027. "It validates the hard work, vision and dedication of our founding members who believed in the importance of creating a space for students committed to pediatric care."

Members of PPA reflected on the excitement of the ceremony and the honor of being recognized. "Hearing PPA being announced was such an exciting moment!" said Valentina Pham, Membership Chair, Pharm.D. Candidate 2028. "For me, it felt like an acknowledgment of the hard work, collaboration and shared vision that brought us together and made this organization possible."

The Swing Out Awards celebrate leadership and excellence among student organizations, and recipients receive a monetary prize along with recognition at the Evening of the Stars ceremony. For PPA, winning Best Graduate Organization not only highlights their impact but also serves as motivation to continue advocating for pediatric patients, advancing pharmacy education and building a supportive community.

"This milestone marks not just a win for our organization, but a celebration of the values and partnerships that drive us forward," Walker added. "This is only the beginning of what we hope will be a lasting legacy in pediatric pharmacy."

With the recognition from the Swing Out Awards, the Pediatric Pharmacy Association looks ahead to expanding its initiatives and continuing to make meaningful contributions to the field and campus community.
