Horns up! The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy student chapter of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) has been selected as the winner of the 2025 ACCP Outstanding Student Chapter Award!
This national recognition highlights the chapter's excellence in leadership, patient care initiatives and commitment to professional development. It marks the second time the Texas Pharmacy chapter has received this award, having first earned the distinction in 2017.

"This is a fantastic national accomplishment," said Dean Sam Poloyac. "Congratulations to 2024-2025 officers Madeline, Aldwin, Minh, Kevin, Han and the entire ACCP student organization. I also want to recognize our faculty advisors Dr. Chris Frei and Dr. Kristin Janzen, along with the many college faculty members who help the students with their events, competitions and other important work this year, including Dr. Sam Catanzano and Dr. Rebecca Moote." The faculty advisors stated, "We're incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful for your outstanding representation of the college."
The chapter's 2024–2025 Annual Report, submitted under the leadership of J. Madeline Lampe (Pharm.D. Candidate 2026)—who served as last year's ACCP Student Liaison—outlined a year of impactful initiatives and high engagement. The current student leaders include Aldwin Martin (Pharm.D. Candidate 2026), 2024–25 President, Minh Nguyen (Pharm.D. Candidate 2027), 2024–25 Vice President and incoming 2025–26 President, Kevin Nguyen (Pharm.D. Candidate 2026), 2024–25 Secretary and Han Truong (Pharm.D. Candidate 2027), 2024–25 Treasurer.
As part of the award, the chapter will receive a $1,000 prize and two student members will be awarded complimentary full registration and $250 travel stipends to attend the ACCP Annual Meeting. The award will be formally presented during the ACCP Student Chapter Forum on Saturday, October 18, at the 2025 ACCP Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Students from the chapter will also deliver a short presentation on their initiatives following the award announcement.

Faculty advisor Dr. Frei shared his enthusiasm, saying, "This award recognizes the dedication and vision of our student leaders. Watching them build momentum year after year and now receive national recognition is incredibly rewarding." Dr. Janzen added, "It's an honor to support such driven and collaborative students. Their work reflects the best of what our profession and our college strive for."
The Texas Pharmacy ACCP student chapter continues to serve as a model of student leadership, with plans to expand its clinical outreach, educational programming and professional development efforts in the coming year.
