John J. Koleng, Ph.D., R.Ph., earned his B.S. in Pharmacy (1994) and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics (2002) from The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy, where he remains an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Pharmaceutics and serves on the Dean's Advisory Council and Industrial Advisory Board. A registered pharmacist and prolific inventor named on 28 issued U.S. patents, his research spans hot-melt extrusion, abuse-deterrent systems and thin-film-freezing inhalation powders, including recent UT collaborations on inhaled therapies and pediatric tuberculosis mini-tablets.
Across more than 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry, Dr. Koleng has guided life-science companies from concept to commercialization. He co-founded AlphaVektor, LLC and Axxis Innovations, served as Vice President of Product Development and Manufacturing at TFF Pharmaceuticals and helped build PharmaForm, rising to COO before its 2007 sale to Akela Pharma. He is also a founding member of Oticara and Via Therapeutics. Through teaching, mentoring and industrial-academic collaboration, he continues to translate laboratory discovery into patient-ready therapies.
