16th Annual Louis C. Littlefield Celebrating Pharmacy Research Excellence Day

April 15, 2020

Dear Pharmacy Research Community,

I am pleased to announce the launch of the Virtual Celebrating Pharmacy Research Day event!

As most of you are aware, the 16th annual Celebrating Pharmacy Research Excellence Day (CPRED) in person event that was scheduled for today, April 15, 2020, was cancelled this year. In response, an asynchronous “virtual” web-based CPRED event was developed to allow us to celebrate the outstanding research performed over the last year by our College of Pharmacy research community, despite the fact that most of us are quarantined at home.

On the CPRED website you will find two recorded presentations. The first is a presentation by the Scientific Keynote Lecturer, Dr. Thomas Meek of Texas A&M university. The topic of his presentation is very timely as it highlights Dr. Meek’s development of drugs to treat infectious agents (including COVID type viruses!). The second presentation, titled “The Fourth Hurdle: Cost-Effectiveness Analysis,” is given by the Distinguished Faculty Lecturer Dr. Karen L. Rascati of the Health Outcomes Division of the UT Austin College of Pharmacy. Both of these recorded presentations allow for interactions between the viewer and the speakers through an “ask a question” function button at the bottom of the presentation screen. The speakers will respond to these questions via email.

This site also includes the abstracts and poster presentations by our research community. I hope each of you will take the time to be interactive with the research community by reaching out to them individually through email and asking questions, providing insights, or just to provide Kudos!

Finally, as is tradition with our CPRED event, trainees from five different categories (undergraduate, graduate and pharmacy students as well as postdoctoral fellows and pharmacy residents) are recognized with “best abstract” awards. You’ll have to visit the website to find out who the winners are in each category!

Best wishes for an engaging experience learning about the exciting research performed by the UT Austin College of Pharmacy community!

Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies

The 16th Annual Louis C. Littlefield Celebrating Pharmacy Research Excellence (CPRED) event is sponsored by the College of Pharmacy (COP) during the university’s research week.
