Nomination Details

Each year, the College of Pharmacy Alumni Association seeks nominations for awards that honor alumni and friends of the college. These include:

  • The William J. Sheffield Outstanding Alumnus Award
  • Legend of Pharmacy Award
  • Distinguished Young Alumnus Award

Anyone may submit nominations/self-nominations. To reactivate a nomination submitted within the past two years, please notify Alumni Relations and, if needed, provide updated information. All nominations are confidential.

Nominations will close on August 16, 2024, and winners will be announced in October 2024. The Alumni Awards will be presented at the annual Homecoming Tailgate on Saturday, November 23, 2024.  

Be prepared to include:

  • A current version of the nominee's resume, curriculum vitae or biography
  • Nominee’s contact information
  • Additional letters of support (optional)
  • Other supporting items such as newspaper articles, list of publications, etc. (optional)

The William J. Sheffield Outstanding Alumnus Award

About

The Sheffield Award, named to honor former Associate Dean William J. Sheffield, is the highest honor paid by the College of Pharmacy and Alumni Association. The award is presented each year to an alumnus whose career and commitment to quality pharmacy education and research best represents the values on which the college was founded.

Selection Criteria

All alumni of the College of Pharmacy, who graduated in 2013 or before, are eligible to be nominated.  Nominees must:

  • Contribute meaningfully to the pharmacy profession (e.g., clinical, business, academic, research, industry, administrator or other)
  • Show continuing commitment to the College of Pharmacy by volunteering, teaching, providing philanthropic support or precepting
  • Recognize and reflect on the importance of their education at the College of Pharmacy
  • Positively reflect the goals and academic mission of the College of Pharmacy

Legend of Pharmacy Award

About

The Legend of Pharmacy Award honors friends of the College of Pharmacy whose contributions to the pharmacy profession are considered above and beyond or "legendary."

Selection Criteria

Any individual, either friend or graduate of the College of Pharmacy, is eligible to be nominated.  Nominees must:

  • Contribute meaningfully to the pharmacy profession (e.g., clinical, business, academic, research, industry, administrator or other)
  • Demonstrate loyalty to the College of Pharmacy by volunteering, teaching, providing philanthropic support or precepting
  • Positively reflect the goals and academic mission of the College of Pharmacy

About

The Distinguished Young Alumnus Award recognizes the efforts of our more recent alumni who exemplify the College of Pharmacy mission “to advance discovery, innovation, and patient care; and to provide service to the university, professional and scientific communities, and society.”

Selection Criteria

All alumni who graduated in 2014 through 2024 from the College of Pharmacy are eligible to be nominated.  Nominees must:

  • Show promise and innovation in their chosen business, profession or field
  • Show continuing commitment to the College of Pharmacy by volunteering, teaching, providing philanthropic support or precepting
  • Positively reflect the goals and academic mission of the College of Pharmacy
