Dr. Lucas Hill
The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) announced recipients of 2020 awards and honors, one of the most comprehensive recognition programs in the pharmacy profession.
Clinical Assistant Professor Lucas G. Hill, Pharm.D., BCPS, BCACP was awarded APhA’s prestigious Generation Rx Award of Excellence. The award recognizes a pharmacist that has demonstrated a commitment to the mission of substance abuse education.
Dr. Hill is the director of Operation Naloxone, initially an on-campus organization that worked to stock residence halls with naloxone, a drug used to treat opioid overdose in an emergency situation. Its mission has expanded to provide overdose prevention and response education to students, health professionals, and community members throughout Texas to combat the opioid crisis using harm reduction strategies. He was invited to speak on a November roundtable discussion at the White House by the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). The discussion pertained to preventing overdose on college campuses and the invitation comes from Director of National Drug Control Policy James Carroll.
The Generation Rx Award will be presented to Dr. Hill at APhA’s Second General Session on Sunday, March 22, 2020.
