The event included a keynote scientific lecture from Thomas Meek, Ph.D. Meek is a professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics at Texas A&M University. His presentation involved the rational design of inhibitors and inactivators to block essential enzyme targets for developing treatments for infectious diseases.
The virtual event also included a distinguished faculty lecture from Karen Rascati, R.Ph., Ph.D., the Eckerd/Turley Centennial Professor of Pharmacy and Graduate Advisor for The University of Texas College of Pharmacy. Rascati’s presentation was entitled “The Fourth Hurdle: Cost-Effective Analysis.”
Participants submitted abstracts and posters to be viewed remotely. Congratulations to all the participants and the trainee abstract winners! Though COVID-19 provided a tough challenge for organizers and participants, the Office of the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies provided a fulfilling and informative event for everyone.
Special thanks to all the judges: Drs. Mike Johnsrud, Sarah Kubes, Claire Latiolais, Mo Maniruzzaman, Sharon DeMorrow, and Kun Yang. This event is sponsored, in part, from a generous gift by Dr. Linda M. Vidosh Zempel.
