Engagement Opportunities
  • New Student Orientation: Occurring the week before classes begin in August, New Student Orientation (NSO) features various programs for new Pharm.D. students. Employers can sponsor a meal during NSO, providing a unique opportunity to network directly with new students.
  • Foundations of Professional Development (FPD) Courses: FPD is a course sequence that all Pharm.D. students take over six semesters during their first three years in the program. Pharmacy leaders speak to students about their career journeys and daily operations, engaging a large group with their insights.
  • Professional Development for Pharmaceutical Scientists: This graduate course is held annually each spring and is designed to provide an overview of how the various disciplines within the pharmaceutical sciences interrelate. Invited alumni and industry experts share their expertise on interdisciplinary collaboration and career paths in the pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Division Seminars: Division-specific research seminars are held once a week during the fall and spring.
  • Employer Roundtable: Held annually in May, the Employer Roundtable is designed for employers and organizations recruiting students from the College of Pharmacy. This event provides a platform to discuss trends and hiring practices, and to learn about upcoming opportunities to engage with UT talent.
  • Student Organization General Meetings: 1 hour (typically Monday & Wednesday 12-1pm; Tuesday & Thursday 12:30-1:30pm)
  • Industry Symposium: Held annually in March, Industry Symposium is a collaboration with the Industry Pharmacy Organization student chapter and Pharmacy Graduate Student Association to host industry pharmacists and professionals for roundtable discussions, dinner, networking and presentations, with typically over 100 students in attendance.
  • Residencies and Roundtables: Held annually in April, our Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP) hosts a multi-day networking event where pharmacists and residents share information about their residency programs, and students learn about working in different specialty areas.
Sponsorship Opportunities

Sponsorships: The college holds annual events to support student success, wellness, and belonging. Sponsorship will vary per event and could include representation in printed materials, networking with students, promotional materials shared, and other sponsorship activities.

Employer Recruiting Guidelines & Procedures
  • The College of Pharmacy adheres to the University of Texas at Austin's Employer Recruiting Guidelines and Procedures.
  • Organizations and talent acquisition professionals who wish to engage with and make use of the assistance and/or facilities offered by the University of Texas at Austin must adhere to university and college-specific recruiting guidelines as well as applicable federal, state, and local employment laws
The University of Texas at Austin Offer Guidelines

The College of Pharmacy adheres to the Employer Recruiting guidelines and procedures set by the university’s Career Success office.

  • All offers must be in writing. Written offers are defined as electronic or hard copies.
  • The start of the offer timeline is determined by the date on the written offer letter.
  • Exploding offers are prohibited. We define an exploding offer as one that expires, is rescinded, or results in a diminished base salary within a short period of time. This type of offer places undue pressure on a student and, as such, is viewed as inappropriate conduct. We also classify requiring a verbal acceptance to receive a written offer as an exploding offer.
  • In accordance with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and its advisory opinion on setting reasonable deadlines for job offers, UT Career Centers recommend that employers give students two (2) weeks minimum to accept an offer. We also urge employers to be open to feasible student requests for additional time.
