Interested in business administration? The UT Austin College of Pharmacy is excited to announce a new partnership with McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin.
Business core courses seek to provide a contemporary real-world managerial perspective. Core courses set the foundation for students to later tailor their degree with specific goals through elective courses. Program Details
Overview
The concurrent degrees will be completed in approximately 5 years.
Students will progress through the dual-degree curriculum by starting in the Pharm.D. program in their first year, taking the MBA degree's first-year sequence in their second year, and then completing the sequence of the following years from the College of Pharmacy, taking MBA electives as needed.
Students enrolled in the Pharm.D./MBA program must complete a minimum of 153 credit hours of coursework for the Pharm.D. degree and 44 credit hours of coursework for the MBA degree, including all core requirements of both degrees. Thus, the dual-degree program requires completion of 197 credit hours, a reduction of 11 hours from the 164 required for the Pharm.D. degree and 15 hours from the 59 required for the MBA degree, when those degrees are earned independently.
The reduction in overall hours comes from general electives; students, in essence, fulfill the elective requirement for each dual degree program through courses completed in the other dual degree program. The common coursework is applied to the program of work for one degree while being waived by the other degree program. The College of Pharmacy will waive up to 11 credit hours completed for the MBA degree; the McCombs School will waive up to 15 credit hours completed for the Pharm.D. degree.
