Dr. Deepika Rao, Ph.D.

Deepika Rao is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Health Outcomes at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Rao received her Ph.D. in Health Services Research in Pharmacy (2022) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison along with a graduate minor in prevention and intervention science. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Pharmacy Administration (2018) from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, and a Bachelor of Pharmacy (2016) from the University of Mumbai, India. Dr. Rao's research is focused on the development and implementation of patient-centered interventions in the prevention and treatment of substance use and mental health disorders, especially focused on the role of pharmacists and in pharmacy settings.

Dr. Tyler Varsico, Pharm.D., Ph.D.

Tyler Varisco is an assistant professor in the Health Outcomes Division and Director of the Pharmacy Addictions Research and Medicine Program at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy. A registered pharmacist and trained health services researcher, Dr. Varisco earned his Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes and Policy from the University of Houston College of Pharmacy. His research focuses on evaluating and improving the quality of care for persons with opioid use disorder (OUD).

Dr. Jiebing Wen, Ph.D.

Jiebing Wen is a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Health Outcomes. She received her Ph.D. in public policy and administration with a focus on health policy and health economics from the Martin School, University of Kentucky. Dr. Wen was a postdoctoral fellow in health policy and insurance research in the Department of Population Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Institute. Prior to joining UT Austin, Dr. Wen served as a research associate in the Division of Health Policy and Economics, Department of Population Health Sciences at Weill Cornell Medical College (WCM). Dr. Wen’s work focuses on applying quasi-experimental econometrics techniques to claims data analysis to answer research questions centering around the intended and unintended impact of health policies. She currently studies Medicare, Medicaid, and telehealth policies, and quality of care for Medicare beneficiaries.
